July Goals – Good and Gone

Whoa, looks like July is done and gone! Which means, it’s time to review how we did on our goals. Hopefully you guys followed along and set yourself your own July goals.  If you did, leave a comment below letting us know what your goal was and how you did.

And now: time to recap last month’s quest!

July’s Goal Review

For my goal (which I posted on our Facebook page), I intended to get 4 blog posts pre-scheduled to publish in the hopes that I would be able to focus more of July on working ahead.  The idea was that I would spend a few days writing up a bunch of posts, schedule them all to publish each week along with the Facebook updates, and then focus on building other content.  I’ve got a list of things I want to add…but right now, not too much time to do it.  All in all, it was a reachable goal.

How did I do?

Eh…. I did manage to get a few posts mostly written.  “Help My Brain is Trying to Kill Me!” and “How to Talk to Your Kids About Mental Illness” were both written ahead and scheduled for publishing.  I even managed to write up and schedule the Facebook posts talking about them, so yay! The other two posts of the month, however, were a little last minute. To be fair, there wasn’t a lot of time to schedule the first post of the month after I’d set myself the goal, so I’m going to give myself a pass on that one.

Overall, I didn’t technically meet my goal.  That said, I’m really proud of myself for what I did accomplish.  Two out of four posts is pretty awesome considering life as it is right now. So, again, YAY! Ultimately, it gives me a bit of inspiration to keep going into my next month.  Speaking of….

Looking Ahead to August’s Goal

Okay, this month I’m still going to work on blog related goals.  Yep, you read that right, goals. As in, more than one. What are they?

Goal #1: Schedule one month of “Moment of” posts.  Yeah, I know.  It’s a bit of low hanging fruit, but that’s okay.  First of all, I need a win.  Second of all, it’s something important to me.  We all love those “Moment of” posts and I’m getting a little annoyed that I keep forgetting them.  So from now on, the first half hour of my month is going to be spent writing them up and getting them scheduled.  (And if you’re completely confused as to what I’m talking about, you need to get to the Facebook community chat and join in! It’s a closed group, so you’ll need to send a request, but it’s worth it for all the amazing people!)

Goal #2: Write up 2 “emergency” posts.  So, I learned my lesson with the scheduling all my posts ahead of time.  Ideally, it’s still the dream, but for now I’ll work on getting two emergency posts prepared.  That way, if any of us ends up in the hospital again (sheesh… I’m starting to get to know all the ER doctors by name…), at least I’ll have a couple posts I can schedule for while I’m gone.  This seems like a slightly more reachable goal, so that’s what I’m going for.

Take a moment and think of your own goal for the month.  It can be big or small, whatever you want.  Heck, in my planner, I have a goal of just trying to remember to brush my teeth four days in a row (yeah, I know….eww…. but that’s depression for ya).
