Well, Halloween is done and you and I both know we’ve crammed as much candy down as we could. After all, this begins the season of tasty treats. Next up: Thanksgiving! Oh, goodie… Crowds of people, hours of travel, days of cooking, and a week of cleaning that kitchen afterward. Actually, scratch that last one… I’m using paper plates.
All in all, there’s a lot to do this month and only a month to do it all in! Not going to panic, right?
But before we get too far, let’s take a second to reflect back on our goals for last month and start thinking about our goals for next month!
October’s Goal Review
Last month I set myself a couple of relatively modest goals, although, in hindsight they weren’t both proper goals (but still, that’s for the next section). In my goals I talked about focusing on self care as well as posting at least once a week on the blog and my Facebook page.
The month before I set a goal of focusing on self care as well, but it wasn’t very successful. Whether that’s because I wasn’t being effective with my care or because life was just way too much, I don’t know. I do know that I decided to try again. This time, I was going to attempt to be more intentional about the care. So, planning a bit of time each day and making it a priority.
So how did I do?
Overall, not too great, depending on what you look at.
Let’s start with the successful goal: the posts. I actually managed to pull together a post for every week this month, which is pretty awesome. My energy definitely waned by the end of the month, though, so it’s a good thing I planned ahead. Enter: Buffer! Not gonna lie, that has been my saving grace this month. It let me schedule a lot of stuff ahead of time, which meant my sad little brain didn’t keep you guys from the fun!
Hmm…Okay, fun is a bit of an odd term, but still.
As for the intentional self care… well, that was nonexistent. I tried to be smart and plan ahead, and sometimes I actually did alright. Usually, though, it was easier to just curl up in bed or hide. I did do some puzzles, I suppose. And I was pretty okay about coming downstairs every day to see the rest of the family.
I guess, thinking about it, I did pretty well! Huh. Yay!
Looking Ahead to November’s Goal
Okay. First goal is to create actual goals for this blog post. They need to be measurable, which is something my last set kinda missed. I mean, the blog and Facebook ones were good, but yeah…
With that in mind, I want to focus on a business based goal. I need to work on growing this blog, which means being a little bit better about scheduling myself. So, my goal this month is to create a set weekly posting schedule for the Facebook page and actually put it into action. I’m going to plan out a post per day for Sunday through Saturday and then schedule them all in my best friend, Buffer.
How will I know I’ve succeeded? I’m gonna have a lovely calendar to look at and at least one week of fully scheduled posts. Bonus: I can just get online and double check myself when it comes time to evaluate my success!
Okay, your turn!
Now it’s your turn to come up with your own goals for the month! Feel free to share them or keep them to yourself – whatever makes you most comfortable. I can’t wait to hear how it goes!
